There are many online Chess playing platforms , by far 2 of the biggest are
1- Chess.com
2- Lichess.org
They are both very good and provide opportunities to connect online communities of Chess players around the World . You are able to join Tournaments or orgnaise 1 on 1 games against friends or unknown players of similar playing strengths.

What is 4NCL ? Four nations Chess League https://www.4ncl.co.uk/
Its run by Keith Gregory who organises the Wessex Some Stars Teams , currently there are 6-8 teams of 4 players.

The time format is 45 + 15 and is run on the www.lichess.org platform

Next steps:
1- You need to join www.lichess.org
You must create your own username : e.g. My Lichess user name is gphillman58 for example
When you have accessed the www.lichess.org website, the page will look like this.
Then you sign in and all that changes is your user name appears where the sign in button is
The 4NCL format is 45 minute + 15 second increment .
Keith Gregory will organise the teams in the background and inform you of your pairing a few days prior to the game date
On the day :
Log onto the www.lichess.org platform 1st . Then leave the window open in the background
If you are white you need to issue a challenge to your already identified opponent
If you are Black you will receive a challenge from your opponent
If you are White you issue a challenge by understanding your opponents User Name and issuing them a challenge through the Play a Friend button - Its quite intuitive and easy to use
If you are Black you will simply receive a challenge from your opponent . This is indicated by a red dot appearing in the top right hand corner of the screen .
- 4NCL plays twice a month , currently on Tuesdays 7-30 pm ( February 2022 onward's )
